Temperament/Personality
Delta has a joyful and affectionate personality and truly loves being close to her people. She especially adores my teenage kids and is happiest when she can follow along and be part of whatever the family is doing. Like her father, she is naturally athletic and quick to figure things out—something she demonstrated early on when she confidently learned how to climb out of the puppy pen. She is attentive, quick to come when called, and always eager to participate in whatever is happening around her. And like many happy young dogs, Delta has a great enthusiasm for food and rarely misses an opportunity to enjoy a good snack.

Favorite Things/What She Brings to the Program
Delta already shows a wonderful love for activity and adventure, and I’m excited to see how much she will enjoy exploring the outdoors as she matures. As she begins her show journey, we look forward to watching her continue to develop both physically and mentally. Delta also holds an important place in our breeding program as the next generation of Blue Belle’s legacy. As a black tri, she offers great versatility for future pairings and can be thoughtfully matched with dogs of any color. We are excited to watch her grow and hope she will carry forward the temperament, structure, and joyful spirit that we value so much in our line.
Why We Love Her
Delta holds a very special place in our hearts as the first puppy we have chosen to keep from our own breeding program. She comes from a long-planned cross and represents many of the qualities we hoped to preserve and build upon in our line. In many ways, she is almost a mirror of her father, Defiance—carrying his structure, expression, and joyful presence.
From the very beginning, Delta has impressed us with her bright mind and eagerness to learn. She has proven to be incredibly quick to understand new things, approaching training with enthusiasm and curiosity. At the same time, she carries herself with beautiful balance and natural athleticism, traits we value greatly in the breed.
At home, Delta is an absolute delight. She has a joyful, playful spirit and brings a sense of fun to everyday life. Whether she is learning something new, playing in the yard, or simply keeping us company, she reminds us every day why we love this breed so much and why thoughtful breeding matters.
From Runt to Pick of the Litter
Delta was puppy number six in the litter and the smallest of her siblings from the very beginning. As the runt, she may have been the tiniest, but she never seemed to realize it—often carrying herself as if she were the biggest of them all. She is uniquely marked with an almost perfectly split black face and a small triangular patch that gives her a very distinctive expression.
Her name, Delta, came naturally and was chosen the day she was born. In fact, she was the puppy who inspired the naming theme for the entire litter.
Interestingly, during our first evaluation of the litter at four weeks of age, Delta was not even on our radar as a show prospect. But as the weeks went on, she began to reveal special qualities that we hadn’t initially seen. By six weeks she started to stand out, and by our seven-week evaluation she surprised us all by surpassing her littermates as the strongest show prospect for our breeding program.
Her registered name, “Defy the Odds,” became a tribute both to her father and to the unexpected way she rose to the top during the evaluation process.

Delta’s pedigree reflects several generations of thoughtfully selected Miniature American Shepherds. Her sire, GCH Moonbaby’s Molan Labe “Defiance,” is widely recognized as one of the influential foundation studs in the breed and holds the AKC Register of Merit (ROM) for producing champion offspring.
Defiance’s influence appears throughout Delta’s pedigree, reinforcing many of the qualities we value in this line, including balance, presence, and a joyful temperament.
