Inside, you\u2019ll find select video clips from the original Puppy Culture curriculum, giving you a window into the early training your puppy is already experiencing.<\/p>\n Around 4 weeks of age, we begin a series of short, intentional daily exercises that introduce foundational concepts such as taking a treat from our hands and becoming \u201coperant\u201d\u2014meaning your puppy learns to actively offer behaviors that can be rewarded. One of the most meaningful skills we teach is \u201cmanding,\u201d where puppies learn to sit (instead of jumping) to ask for attention and interaction. This is why our puppies are much more likely to sit rather than jump when they want to engage with you.<\/p>\n You can explore these exercises further in Section 14 of your course.<\/p>\n At this age, even a very small investment of time\u2014just 60\u201390 second sessions, twice a day\u2014can create tremendous impact. When you continue building on these foundations at home, skills like leash walking, attention, and overall communication become significantly easier and more natural to teach.<\/p>\n By the time your puppy comes home, they are not starting from scratch. This includes age-appropriate challenges such as varied surfaces (including those \u201cwobbly\u201d ones), getting used to house noises (vaccum sounds, door bell, kids playing etc), safe exploration, and gentle problem-solving opportunities\u2014all designed to build confidence, resilience, and curiosity.<\/p>\n We also place a strong emphasis on socialization. Thanks to a wonderful community of friends, our puppies are thoughtfully exposed to a variety of people, including children, babies, and older adults.
